Effective supervision is a critical element of both professional practice in general, and of practice leading to LCSW licensure. The 1999 Louisiana Social Work Practice Act adds a dimension of supervision which the 1972 Louisiana Social Work Practice Act did not contain. Following is an explication of the two levels of supervision for GSWs. GSW seeking the LCSW credential GSWs seeking the LCSW credential must complete 36 accumulated months of full-time postgraduate social work practice.
