What is the difference between the Practice Option and the Test Experience Option?

0

The Practice Option allows you to purchase essay topics in multiples of two and gives you the option to specify a combination of Issue or Argument tasks or only one task. You can write your essay responses using as much time as you need. However, it is recommended you practice writing within the same time allotted in the actual test. You can use your own word processor and then submit the essay response online for scoring. In the Test Experience Option, the actual GRE General Test Analytical Writing experience will be duplicated. You must complete both the Issue and Argument tasks in one sitting. Scores received under the Test Experience Option are more likely to indicate how you might perform in the actual GRE Analytical Writing section than scores received using the Practice Option.

The Practice Option allows you to: • Purchase essay topics in any combination (i.e. one Issue topic and one Argument topic, or two topics of the same type). • Write responses online or offline. The tasks will not be timed in the offline option. • Receive a score for each response submitted. • Receive additional feedback. The Test Experience Option allows you to: • Purchase one GRE Analytical Writing section (one Issue task and one Argument task). • Respond to an Issue task and Argument task as you would during an actual test administration. The test will deliver two Issue topics, and you will pick one. You will have 45 minutes to write and submit your essay response. The test will then deliver one Argument topic; you will have 30 minutes to write and submit your essay response. • Write responses online using the same word processing features as the GRE General Test. • Receive a score for each response submitted and a total score. • Receive additional feedback.
