What is the difference between the original Com-Tech Series and the newer Com-Tech “10” Series?

Crown’s Com-Tech 10 Series amplifiers are “new and improved” versions of our Com-Tech family of commercial power amplifiers. Although they directly parallel the original models in size, appearance, and power output, these amplifiers have been enhanced with new features and protection that make them an even better choice for your fixed installation requirements. First, the 10-Series amplifiers were designed to accept the latest, enhanced PIP2 standard for Crown PIP (Programmable Input Processor) modules. With PIP2 capability, Com-Tech amplifiers can now take advantage of the advanced IQ capabilities found in a variety of PIP2 components, such as SmartAmp features, load supervision, memory backup, and fast roll call. These new Com-Tech amplifiers also feature Crown’s advanced, Quad Mute protection system.
