What is the difference between the old Professional Development Scheme and the new AACA and Australian Institute of Architects Joint CPD Policy and why has it changed?
The old Professional Development Scheme was introduced in 1995 and revised in 1998. Members are asked to obtain 20 PD points a year which could be gained through 3 levels of learning categories. The three levels were allocated 1, 2 or 3 points an hour. The Institute encouraged individuals to plan a PD program appropriate to their specific needs, and architectural practices to develop a structured program. In 2003, a review of the Architects Acts across Australia commenced, arising out of the Commonwealth Productivity Commission report, Review of Legislation Regulating the Architectural Profession (August 2000) and the Inter-governmental working group (IGWG).
