In the new NCS, not only a reduction is taking place in the numbers of subordinate Headquarters (HQ), but a functional realignment between the two Strategic Commands (SCs) is happening as well; ACLANT became Allied Command Transformation (ACT), dealing with transformation and preparing the Alliance for new changes and threats and Aliied Command Europe became Allied Command Operations (ACO), taking the lead of the operations and commanding all subordinate operational HQs.
