What is the difference between the NT Server version of KCML 5 and other versions?
The NT server version of KCML is much the same as UNIX versions in that all processing takes place on the server, leaving the client PC’s to maintain the user interface – the thin client model. Client PC’s connect to the server using a program called KClient which is usually obtained from the http://www.kcml.com/download/download.html site. The same KClient program is also used to connect to UNIX versions of KCML. KCML on the NT server is installed as a service via the kservadm program which listens out for client connections via TCP/IP. When a connection is made the server prompts the user for a valid NT login and password, although this process can be improved by configuring KClient to use NT domain authentication. Once the user is logged in the application is then executed. Windows environments (peer-to-peer lans) can also use what is called the WKCML product. This is a non-server based version whereby each individual PC executes a separate copy of KCML.
