What is the difference between the National Registry EMT Exam and the NJ State Exam?

0

The EMT who is Nationally Registered means exactly that – that they made it to the list of EMTs that is recognized nationally. However, to actually do work in a particular state, an EMT must have a card that says he/she is recognized in that state, as well. Therefore, it is not necessary to be nationally registered to do EMS work in New Jersey, but it is necessary to be certified as a New Jersey EMT. Also, Nationally Registered EMTs have to re-certify every 2 years, whereas New Jersey EMTs re-certify every 3 years.
