The MSc Finance and Economics and MSc Finance and Economics (Research) Programmes differ slightly in structure| and in emphasis. The MSc Finance and Economics Programme will be of interest if you plan a career in a financial institution or a role in industry which requires advanced analytical skills. The MSc Finance and Economics (Research) Programme differs in structure as the the core Microeconomics course is replaced by Advanced Microeconomics, and students must complete a 6,000 word dissertation in one of their optional courses and take an exam in the other. The MSc Finance and Economics (Research) Programme is designed for those who wish to go on to pursue doctoral research in the field. You should, however, apply for the MSc Finance and Economics programme in the first instance as entry to the Research programme will be considered once students are registered at LSE.
