What is the difference between the MCA Software Development Kit (SDK) and the MCA Platform Driver (PD)?
The MCA Platform Driver is the hardware specific runtime portion of the MCA Software that resides on an OEM created Mobile Clinical Assistant. It is hardware specific in that it incorporates components based upon the target hardware configuration. The MCA Platform Driver integrates all the MCA functionality to the specific hardware (camera, barcode, RFID) used on a tablet. The MCA Platform driver is given directly to the MCA hardware vendor for them to integrate into their system build. The Platform Driver will not run properly on other hardware without modifications. It includes all of the libraries and applications needed for an application which has been written to take advantage of the MCA functionality to work. The MCA SDK is a software development platform that will run on any Microsoft* Windows XP* (SP2) or Windows Vista* based PC.
