What is the difference between the Kindergarten and the First grade version of the OLSAT? Why is the same book used to prepare children for both?

There is no great difference between the OLSAT exam administered to students entering Kindergarten and to those entering First Grade. The only difference is the length of the exam. Students entering First Grade are expected to answer more questions than those going into Kindergarten. As a result, the same prep course can be used for students at both grade levels. However, since students going into First Grade will be expected to take a longer test, we suggest that prep takes into account the fact that the child will be required to concentrate for a longer period of time. Therefore, we suggest that parents build up their prep sessions to go for as long as 40-45 minutes. Students entering Kindergarten will do well with study sessions that do not exceed 30 minutes.
