Answer Hi Alex, I do not have any expertise in Judeo-Christianity. I am familiar with it but by no means can get into a deep explanation of Yahweh. I will do my best to give you information to help you compare the two concepts. The Great Spirit you speak of is better translated as Great Mysterious. I believe it’s one of those concepts that loses something in it’s translation. The Native culture realized that a Power, a Creator, something, was responsible for creating all that surrounded them. They believed this something was imbued in all of the natural world. They understood themselves as being part of the whole. They did not believe that they were made in the image of this Mysterious Power, nor did they believe that they were greater than anything else in Nature. They did not feel as though they dominated Nature or that all that surrounded them was created for their use.
