What is the difference between the House of Commons and the House of Lords?
House of Commons: Elected members. Like the people who win the General Elections have a seat in the House Of Commons. Thats the place where everyone sits and argues. The House of Commons is dependant on the percentage the party gains in the elections. So Labour may win, but Conservatives will have seats because they gained votes too. Each seat is gained through elections. Confusing? Commons makes the laws and sends it to be passed in the Lords. House Of Lords: 2nd house of Parliament. Not Elected. They have inherited seats and tend to be mutual when it comes to passing bills. However, nowadays they tend to be elected as well, but not 100%. Their powers to cancel laws passed by Commons is restricted but all bills go through the Lords and then to the Queen.
