What is the difference between the Harley Owners Group, and the Hells Angels?
The Harley Owners Group is an organization made up of people who own Harleys. It provides discounted insurance, maintenance assistance, listings of places to ride, not unlike AAA for car owners. Hell’s Angels is a 1% motorcycle club. Once in HA, you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get out. It’s not known for its law abiding members. 1% clubs do not allow women to be members or officers and are run, more or less, along a fairly rigid structure of authority. In order to be a member of most 1% clubs, one of the requirements is to own a Harley usually at least 1000cc.
Hells Angels, is a gang. With quite a reputation for nefarious things. Not everyone that owns a Harley is in the Hells Angels gang. A lot of differnt types of people own Harley’s; while the Hells Angels choose who joins their gang. You can’t just buy a Harely and assume that you are in the gang. It’s a process which involves more then just a bike. And, if you won a Harley, most people will assume you a person that owns a Harley; and not necissarily someone who would be associated with the gang.
