What is the difference between the Greek and Romans in terms of art and architecture?

Pretty much everything the Romans accomplished was done on the back of Greek thought and architecture. The Romans did however invent the arch, which was used extensively in Roman architecture. Although the Romans conquered Greece militarily, Greece conquered Rome culturally. Roman gods are Greek gods with another name, Greek philosophy influenced Roman philosophy, and Virgil’s Aeneid is built from Homer’s Iliad. Many Roman statues are Hellenistic copies. Roman statues however did depart from Greek ideals, often portraying the subject as they truly were instead of some idealized vision of human form. But the best statues were created by the Greeks such as the statue of Laocoon. There is not a lot of difference between the two, simply because the Romans didn’t develop a “unique” style.
