What is the difference between the Great Seal and an Apostille?
Countries are given the opportunity to sign a treaty with the Hague Convention. This establishes the procedures in which official documents are to be authenticated for each country. Documents for those countries that choose to sign the treaty are required to have an apostille, while those who choose not to sign require the Great Seal. For documents requiring an apostille, contact the Clerk of Superior Court. For documents requiring a Great Seal, contact our Elections Division at 404-656-2871.
