What is the difference between the FRGC and the FRVT 2006?
The Face Recognition Grand Challenge (FRGC) is a still and 3D face recognition algorithm development project. It consists of a series of challenge problems that are progressively more difficult in nature. The main goal of the FRGC is to improve the performance of face recognition systems by an order of magnitude over the Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) 2002. The FRGC began in May 2004 and is scheduled for completion in March 2006. The FRVT 2006 is an independent government evaluation of face recognition systems. The main goal of the FRVT 2006 is to measure performance progress since FRVT 2002 and to determine if the FRGC met its goal of improving performance by an order of magnitude. The FRVT 2006 began on 30 January 2006.
