What is the difference between the following pairs: atoms and molecules, and compounds and mixtures?

compounds are chemically combined whilst mixtures are mixed together – you can separate a mixture easily but its pretty hard to separate compounds. im not too sure about the atoms/molecules one though, sorry but i think molecules are smaller than atoms and are in a compound but atoms are smallest of particles that make up you and me.
