What is the difference between the eKO mat and other eco-friendly yoga mats on the market?
eKO – Durability and Performance Typical rubber eco-yoga mats are generally spongy, due to the process that natural tree rubber goes through to make mats and the foaming agents that are used. Because they are spongy, the durability of the mat is compromised. Also, most eco-yoga mats decompose fairly quickly and become either brittle or overly elastic, especially when exposed to humidity and/or sunlight. In order to solve these problems, Manduka created the eKO mat with dual layers – each having unique material properties to provide superior durability and the ultimate combination of cushion and grip. The top layer, which is denser and more durable than typical rubber, is engineered as the top side of the mat to provide maximum performance and longevity. The bottom layer, which is less dense and more sponge-like, is engineered as the bottom side of the mat to provide comfort and a layer of cushion and give. Also, unlike TPE and other petro-based chemical mats, the eKO mat does not have
