What is the difference between the DNP and PhD programs at NYUCN?
The new DNP program builds on NYUCN’s internationally recognized advanced practice NP and CNM Master’s program content to prepare nurse leaders in direct patient care and systems level clinical leadership who are experts at critiquing nursing and other clinical scientific findings. They will be equipped to translate research evidence in designing innovative clinical and organizational programs of care delivery that are culturally appropriate, cost effective, and have significant impact on clinical outcomes. A critical difference between the NYUCN DNP and PhD programs is that the PhD program is designed to prepare nurses for careers as research scientists who will conduct research and build a significant program of research, often in academic, governmental, or health care agencies. Learn more about the knowledge, skills, and competencies that will be provided in the DNP program by reading the AACN’s Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice accessible at http://www.
