What is the difference between the Directors & Officers Liability policy and a General Liability policy?
This issue has caused quite a bit of confusion over the years. It is important to note that both policies cover exactly the same entities and people: the Dixie Youth league itself and its directors, officers, employees, and volunteers. However, each policy protects against a different type of lawsuit. The General Liability policy primarily protects against covered lawsuits alleging the league and its people have negligently caused “bodily injury” to a spectator or player. The policy also provides protection against other types of covered lawsuits such as “property damage” and “personal injury” which includes slander and libel.
