What is the difference between the DAO (Distributed Alarm Object) and the new ActiveX control, the AlarmViewer?

0

The distributed alarm object is unchanged. The Alarm Viewer ActiveX control, new with 8.0 provides a modern look and feel (similar to the DB View ActiveX) for the viewing of active alarms. Like the DAO, it runs off of the active alarm buffer – not the logged alarms. This control also allows you to make full use of the new alarm features introduced for 8.0, allows you to view current and historical alarms simultaneously and sort based upon any priority.
