The Cornice Board is covered in fabric and is used with draperies, sheers, and vertical blinds. The Valance Board is a horizontal board (mounting board), without front and end boards. It is a more casual top treatment. Fabric is attached to the board and hangs free from the front and sides. The Valance Board is used with horizontal blinds, shades, and plain windows.
