What is the difference between the Career Foundational competencies found in Volume I and the Career Area technical competencies found in Volume II?
The ‘Career Foundational’ competencies, found in Volume I are those knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors that everyone in the IM/IT & KM workforce needs, regardless of function. They are organized by focus area (including Strategic, Outcome Oriented, Supervisory/Team, Interpersonal, Mission, Personal Mastery, and Knowledge); each focus area features a number of competencies. Technical competencies, found in various Career Areas in Volume II, are those competencies specific to the career area and job function (or role) you perform.
