What is the difference between the Canadian Army and the Canadian Army Reserves?

Hi, i was wondering what the difference between the canadian army and the canadian army reserves is. I heard something about how in the army you are signed up for so many years, whereas the reserves are like any other job. Any info you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. Best answer: Answer by Dawn Well. I’m assuming it would be the same as American? If so, Army Reserves you still have to sign on for a certain amount of years. Like, up to 6 years or more. And Army reserves you just go to a meeting once a weekend a month. And get paid for that. Army is an active job, which means they OWN you. Where as, Reserves partically own you. You can have another job when being the Reserves. But, they can still ship you out, even in the Reserves. Active Army, you’ve got to sign on for at least 6 years also, I’m sure. I hoped this helped.
