What is the difference between the Budgeted Object and the Transaction Object?
The Budgeted Object refers to where the original monies were budgeted for the FY. For line items like Miscellaneous Expense, it’s common to group them all together rather than budgeting at a more detail level. For Example: $1,000 original budget to subclass 35. The Transaction Object refers to the account where the expenditure was actually posted. This can be the same as the Budgeted Object, or to an object more detailed than the Budgeted Object. For Example: various expenditures posted to SCOB 3503, 3512, 3520, etc. which are all associated with the $1,000 budgeted to subclass 35.
