What is the difference between the blog and other asynchronous communications tools like listservs and webboards?
Blogs are often associated with personal journals that have little substantive content. However, one may think of a blog as mini-content management systems because it is easy to upload documents to a blog, easy to publish to the Web through a blog, and using the categories feature makes it easy to organize blog entries by their subject. Students using blogs can publish to the Web with little or no understanding of HTML. Assigments can be constructed that foster information acquisition and knowledge construction. Students can also learn more from one another accomplishing extended levels of peer review.
