What is the difference between the BEd (HRD) and the other BEd program offered at UPEI?
The BEd (HRD) is directed toward adult education or people who plan on teaching adults. The courses in the BEd (HRD) program specialize in andragogy, which is the study of adult education. The regular BEd program offered at UPEI is directed toward teaching students in grades 1-12. This program specializes in pedagogy, which is the study of teaching children and adolescents. The only people with a BEd (HRD) who will be certified to teach in the public school system will be those who have a technological (vocational) background, and a second academic subject specialty. A person with a CAE may be qualified to teach in a vocational area only.
