What is the difference between the BAUD setting in the COM OPTIONS menu and the BAUD RATE Setting in the SETTINGS?
The SETTINGS | Baud Rate menu controls the serial port baud rate on the Z-Max GPS receiver. The COM OPTN menu controls the serial port Baud Rate on the communication modules (Radio) Serial Port. The COM OPTN | Baud Rate setting will override the SETTINGS| Baud Rate setting to ensure successful communications between the Z-Max receiver and the Communication Modules. When setting the COM OPTN | Baud Rate you are telling the receiver to synchronize with the external device. An analogy can be made, that both devices connection (Port and Baud Rate) must be the same to complete the connection of these two serial devices. Users may observe the Communication Error message on the Front Panel display. If users experience this error, double check the COM OPTN | Baud Rate and make sure it matches the serial port baud rate of the comm. Module or external device.
