What is the difference between the B-6 and A-6?
Both pickups are wound the same, however, there are some differences in the construction. The most obvious is the metal cover on the A-6. This tends to warm the sound up very slightly as compared to the Ebonova of the B-6. The A-6 has the adjustable screw/rod pole piece system of a traditional humbucker while the B-6 has two high mass contoured blades. The blade structure of the B-6 will tend to sound warmer and smoother than the individual pole structure of the A-6, so some of the warmth that the A-6 gained with the metal cover will be made up by the B-6 with its blade pole structure. The blades of the B-6 are contoured to give a smooth and even response across the strings while the adjustable poles of the A-6 allow each player to fine tune the output of each string to his own playing. Overall the sonic signatures are very similar. Either would be a perfect choice if you seek a rich-sounding, mainstream jazz guitar pickup.
