What is the difference between the ARAX MLU cameras and the new ARAX-CM MLU models? How about reliability and precision?
A. Generally the KIEV-88 (the base camera of the ARAX and ARAX-MLU) has a more robust and reliable internal mechanism as it was produced for years and years on the same line and the quality naturally increased during the production run. The KIEV-88-CM (the base camera of the ARAX-CM and ARAX-CM-MLU) represents the latest factory product and as a result has been been found to have a few more issues to address when compared with the more mature KIEV-88. This is not a concern to ARAX purchasers because both camera lines undergo the same rigorous upgrade and testing process before earning the ARAX nameplate. Basic factory price of Kiev-88 and Kiev-88CM is different, therefore the prices of ARAX and ARAX-CM series also different. Both ARAX and ARAX-CM systems offer fantastic value and performance to the photographic craftsperson. And as always, all ARAX cameras are known for their compatibility with the largest world wide selection of renowned Carl Zeiss optics.
