An application server is also called appserver. It is a program that is used to handle all operations of application between users and backend business databases. They are used for handling applications which are transaction-based. It consists of a graphical user interface server which has to be a Web browser based on a personal computer at the user end, secondly; a business logic server or a group of applications on local area network, thirdly; a server which can handle transaction and database which may be on a large server.
