The AMR meters are digital electronic devices, while previous meter is an electro-mechanical device. The AMR meters continue to display the meter reading, but it is in a digital LED format. The key difference is inside of the meter. The AMR meter contains technology that allows it to transmit energy usage data over power lines to TEC substations, which then communicate the information to the cooperative’s office.
