• The FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 will take place between 14 and 28 June 2009 and is contested by the current champions of the six FIFA Confederations, as well as the next FIFA World Cup™ hosts and defending World Cup champions. Currently the eight nations are South Africa as the Host Nation, Italy as the current World Cup champions, USA as CONCACAF champions, Brazil as CONMEBOL champions, Egypt as CAF champions, Iraq as AFC champions. The winner of the UEFA championship (Euro 2008) and winner of Oceania’s OFC Nations competition will also qualify. The tournament will be hosted in Johannesburg; Mangaung/Bloemfontein; Rustenburg and Tshwane/Pretoria.
