A larger diameter hose produces less friction. Therefore, the 5/8″ size lets water reach the end of the hose more quickly, especially for longer hose lengths. The 1/2″ size allows you to use the compression fittings that are available to create a custom soaker hose system. We recommend a maximum flow rate of 1 GPM per 100 and a maximum single run length of 100′ for both the 1/2″ and 5/8″ hoses.
