What is the difference between “TestAll” mode and the “Metals & Minerals,” “Painted Products,” and “Plastics” modes?

• TestAll mode is a special pre-measurement check to identify the type of sample being screened. The Thermo Scientific Niton XL3t XRF analyzer will determine whether the sample is a metal, mineral, plastic, or painted object and select the correct mode automatically. This usually adds 3-4 seconds to each screening, but reduces operator error from misidentification of sample types. • Metals & Minerals mode is for high density samples like metal, crystal, stone, glass, or porcelain. Results are reported in % or parts per million. • Plastics mode is for lower density plastic samples and uncoated wood samples. Results are reported in % or parts per million. • Painted Products mode is for screening coated or painted samples. Units are reported in μg/cm2.
