What is the difference between Tai Chi and Qigong (chi kung)?

0

Tai Chi uses Qigong as a foundation. Tai Chi is a combination of Qigong and martial arts postures/ moves. This is why Tai Chi has many health benefits. Qigong moves the qi through the meridians either through the movements or the breathing techniques. There are many different styles of Qigong. Some are static, meditation exercises, but some like Wild Goose Qigong are very active. So the more active styles are very similar to Tai Chi. As Tai chi uses martial postures, you cannot have bending forward postures but as qigong is not martial you can bend and stretch in a much wider range.
