What is the difference between Stoneware and Earthenware/Terra Cotta pottery?

0

The difference lies in the firing. STONEWARE is usually fired above 2,200 degrees S F. EARTHENWARE is fired below 2,000 degrees SF. Example: Greenhouse clay pots, Raku. Firing above 2200 degrees F bonds the clay molecules so that the clay does not absorb water or moisture. On the other hand Earthenware and Terra Cotta do absorb moisture.
