What is the difference between steel fibres and synthetic fibres?
Steel fibres and synthetic fibres show a completely different stress-strain behaviour. Synthetic fibres only have a positive influence on the properties of wet concrete, they do not increase the post-cracking behaviour. However, steel fibres show a significant improvement in the load bearing resistance after cracking and, depending on the fibre type and the dosage rate, this can even be up to full ductility.
