What is the difference between standard ground and floating ground?
In automotive applications, standard ground is normally adequate. Because marine applications often include engines mounted in fiberglass, wood, etc, there is sometimes nowhere to externally ground the sender. For this reason, “floating ground” senders include an additional terminal on the sender to which the ground wire can be attached.
