You CANNOT take Spanish 1002 unless you have taken Spanish 1001 at the University of Minnesota. However, if you have had some exposure to the Spanish Language, but still consider yourself a beginner, then you should start with Spanish 1022. No permission number or entrance test is required for Spanish 1022.
