What is the difference between solid wood and solid wood veneers?
In the past 20 years, furniture construction has shifted from 80% solid construction to 80% solid wood veneer construction. This is where a thin piece of solid wood is adhered to a base piece of ply. This type of construction has greatly enhanced the durability of furniture and added new possibilities in design. While solid furniture is wonderful, it is often cost prohibitive and is much more likely to split or crack over time with changing physical environments.
