What is the difference between solar hot water and solar power systems?
Solar hot water systems use the energy from the sun to directly heat water. In most solar hot water installations, both the solar panels and a water tank will need to be mounted on your rooftop. In comparison, solar energy systems use the energy from the sun to create electricity that is then used to power the lights and appliances in your home. All that needs to be mounted on your roof are the solar panels themselves and in most cases, these will sit flush with your rooftop.
