What is the difference between slim-line and standard picks?
This term has been adopted by some manufacturers and causes confusion to some new lock pickers. This refers to the thickness/height of the tang (the part of a pick between the handle and the tip). Thinner picks allow for a greater amount of movement in paracentric (tight) keyways, more common in Europe than other parts of the world. Both types work well on most locks but thinner picks simply allow for more movement.
