What is the difference between Single Bit High Rate Digital Subscriber Line (SHDSL) and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)?
Single Bit High Rate Digital Subscriber Line (SHDSL) and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) are both high-speed options for accessing the Internet. SHDSL is a premium version of DSL that offers symmetrical downstream and upstream speeds up to 1.5Mbps. Unlike DSL, SHDSL is provided on a separate data-only line so the customer’s voice solution is not tied to the data line allowing more flexibility to adapt to voice solutions that support business changes without impact to data service. SHDSL uses VBRnrt technology so data packets are given transmission priority over ADSL when network congestion occurs. SHDSL is ideal for customers transmitting mission critical data or large files, hosting email or web servers, and/or utilizing video surveillance or video conferencing applications.
