What is the difference between shoe molding and quarter round? Is one better than the other?
Quarter round is one fourth of a round. Imagine one fourth of a pie. It measures ¾” x ¾” on the flat sides with the outer edge being one fourth of a circle. Shoe mold is used in the same fashion but is smaller and gives a more refined petite appearance. It measures ¾” x ½” on the flat sides and has a combination of round and straight on the third side. Personal preference dictates which is to be used.
