What is the difference between Shared and Dedicated Servers ?
SPELLNET’s shared environment consists of a constellation of servers that hosts directory, database, email, ftp, and web sites with multiple virtual client sites on the same physical machine. Clients are not allowed administrative access to shared servers, and client apps are closely monitored to assure that they do not have a negative impact on shared resources. Dedicated servers are provisioned to host services exclusively for a single client according to their specifications. Client administrators are allowed remote access to their servers. When client apps become too demanding for shared environment, we ask that they be migrated to a dedicated server.
