What is the difference between Sequential and Integrated screening?

0

Integrated screening is slightly more sensitive than Sequential screening, with the sensitivity for detection of Down syndrome of 92%. However, the results are only available in second trimester, after the results of the second blood test (Afp4) are analyzed. Sequential screening provides a preliminary result one week after the nuchal translucency (NT) ultrasound and first blood test are obtained, giving the patient a preliminary result during first trimester. This test is 90.4% sensitive in the detection of patients at risk for Down syndrome, slightly less than the sensitivity of Integrated screening.
