What is the difference between saving in Main Memory and Built in Storage?

Main Memory is faster, so keep it to install often used and/or system software. I think build-in storage is like an internal SD card, it’s a bit slower than memory and I have read somewhere that the writing access is somewhat limited (not sure about it) I used it to store program and files not used often but that I wish to keep when I change the SD card. I install almost all on storage card unless note above and unless I want it to run fast.
