Sales = The discipline responsible for selling a product to an end buyer via relationship buidling and communiaction Marketing = The discipline responsible for anticipating customer needs and then managing the delivery of a product or service matching that need in the most cost effective manner Advertisment = A means of communicating a product or service to a target audience (result of marketing). This is usually with the aim of building image and or a product rationale Promotion = A means of gaining competitive benefit for a product or service against another product via targetting an audience to buy more, consume more etc. This is usually a short term activity to build volume.
