What is the difference between Royal Mail and the Post Office?
Royal Mail Group Ltd and the Post Office Ltd are two distinct organisations that provide different services to the public, and face different challenges. Royal Mail collects, sorts, transports and delivers post. Post Offices provide access to Royal Mail’s services – letters, parcels and stamps – but they also deliver a much wider range of government and financial services, playing a vital social and economic role in the communities they serve. The Government’s policy on the Post Office network was set out in May 2007 following a 12 week consultation. Despite their different challenges, the Royal Mail and the Post Office depend on each other in order to be successful. So it is in the interests of both Post Office Ltd and its network of post offices to see the finances of the Royal Mail turned round and
